We are excited to reveal the new logo for our honey and beeswax products! Although we loved our old logo, we decided it was time for an update. With the new logo release, we would like to share with you the story of how our business was started.
My husband and I first started beekeeping as a hobby in 2012. As our children were getting older and with new free time, I decided to enroll in my first yoga class. One day in the yoga class the subject of honey came up as the instructor was talking about how difficult it was to find local honey for his allergies. My son also suffered from terrible seasonal allergies and the idea of having my own bees to produce honey came to mind. Together with my husband, we completed a beekeeping course and purchased our first hive.
The first year that we were able to harvest honey, we gave it to friends and family who loved it. Since it was such a big hit, I decided to enter our honey in the state honey show. To enter it into the contest, I had to have a label and a name. We decided to name it “Frog Ocean Honey” since we live on Frog Ocean Road and our bees are kept on our property. Because the idea came to me while I was at yoga, I wanted the label to have a frog in a zen pose. We entered the contest and ended up winning first place in the NJ State Honey Show that year. The demand for our honey grew. We purchased more hives and thus, our business was born.
In the past six years of beekeeping, it has become less about harvesting honey and more about connecting with nature. This inspired our new logo to have more of an earthy, marsh feel representing the area in which we live, and an updated version of our iconic zen frog. We hope you love it as much as we do!
As our business continues to grow and change we remain inspired by nature.
After 28 years, I am finally sharing my Salsa Fresca recipe! In the early 90s, my husband was stationed in San Diego (US Navy) and I worked for the County of San Diego. This authentic recipe was given to me at that time by a co-worker and I have always cherished it . Now that we live in New Jersey, every summer I look forward to jersey tomatoes which make it even better! I am excited to teach you how to make it!
We are teaming up with Sorbello Farms CSA who will be providing the tomatoes and many of the fresh ingredients for this recipe. You will have the opportunity to make your own salsa and customize it with just the right heat to your taste! All scraps will be composted (we will talk about the benefits of composting) and you will even receive your own kitchen composter to take home along with your personal jar of salsa and chips!
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED through Eventbrite. Our workshops have been selling out quickly. Reserve your spot today! $35.00/person.
I was first inspired to become a beekeeper after a yoga class five years ago. The instructor of the class was complaining of allergies and had heard that eating local honey everyday would help. He was having a hard time finding local honey and I was looking for a hobby. That year, I attended a beginner beekeeping course and started my first hive! Over the past five years, we slowly expanded our number of hives. In 2016, I opened Frog Ocean Honey at The Barn as a place to sell our honey and other hive products.
We will be celebrating the one year anniversary of The Barn on August 27th with a special Sunday morning all-levels, outdoor yoga class. Bring a mat and a friend! Rebekah Mulford of Bee Inspired Yoga will be teaching the class. Bee Inspired Yoga is located in Woodstown, NJ and has been voted Best of Salem County in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016!
After class, join us for light refreshments, honey tasting, and shopping!

What is Frog Ocean Honey? It’s a tangle of wildflowers in the sweeping meadows of salt marsh around our home. It’s the nectar of nature, and we are the curators. We are the wine of a flower.
Local and family-owned, all of our products encompass the quality of our region. All hives are cared for on our property, and our extracts are gentle and pure. Passion feeds passion—and our family has no shortage when it comes to keeping bees!
Our barn, located at 99 Frog Ocean Road in Lower Alloways Creek, is a trove of untold sweetness. You’ll find beeswax candles, pure bee pollen, flavored lip balms, handmade soaps, and more at our store!
Rich in antioxidants, honey is a natural humectant. For years, it’s been used as a key ingredient in lotions, salves, and balms. Properties in honey act as an antibacterial agent—leaving skin healthy and hydrated! So nourish yourself with the nectar of wildflower. Frog Ocean Honey is here!
Our red barn is open every Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am to 4:30pm.
